Read moreDublin band Swimmers launch their second EP "This Burning Circus" and you can stream it and buy it over on their Bandcamp - http://swimmers2.bandcamp.com . It's quite a step forward for the band since their last EP and the four tracks showcase their ability to make fine indie rock, "Lose Myself", "Body Ahernia" and "World Keeps Turning" are catchy as hell and feature some nice shouty vocals while "(Waltz) This Way" shows they're capable of going any direction they want to with their music. Read moreThat's right John Mellencamp is coming to town apparently! An Evening with John Mellencamp will take place at the Grand Canal Theatre, Tuesday 28th June 2011. The gig is going to be split into three parts, a docu-film about recording his last album, No Better Than This, and his take on the current state of the United States, followed by an acoustic part with a small combo and then the rest of the night with a full band. So only thing you need to consider is whether it's worth paying between €59 and €82 for the pleasure, tickets are onsale Friday 25th Mar at 9am.

Read moreWell, what to say about this? The gig lasted for three hours and it was as epic and as enjoyable as I could have hoped for. Opened up with "Say Please" and "The Right Place" and from there on in they really managed to get the balancing act of each musician's back catalogue and the new songs right. I could honestly happily listen to M.Ward or Jim James singing for the rest of my life. I must admit my knowledge of Conor Oberst is quite limited, but enjoyed his performance at End of the Road 2008, and his work on the night, so should probably start digging deeper into his albums. Only downside of the gig was that it ended. Typically NME went with the headline about Oberst knocking over the piano at the end, probably the least memorable thing of the night, ah well. My highlight was the drummer being called Will Robinson (Lost in Space!!) he can sing as well, and "Whole Lotta' Losin'" in the encore. Below is the new video to "Say Please&qu
