Full of all of the slick grooves and melodies you've come to expect from Chaz Bundick but with a more guitar based sound.

4. Skelocrats - Bella Bella

Fave Tracks:
Laura Dolan
BCE
Permanent House Painter

http://skelocrats.bandcamp.com/

A near perfect album from the Popical Island supergroup which acts almost as a glossary or summary of all the different indie pop that I've grown to love over the years. Also 13 tracks (out of the 14) under 3 minutes, that's how you do it folks!

3. blur - The Magic Whip

Fave Tracks:
Ghost Ship
Ice Cream Man
My Terracotta Heart

http://www.blur.co.uk/

I wasn't sure I needed another blur album in my life, I thought we were done, how many farewell gigs am I expected to go to? Thankfully I wasn't disappointed and got an album better than I had any right to have hoped for, with plenty of the familiar blur sound we've grown to love but also some sonic departures particularly "Ghost Ship" an infectious slice of 70's MOR soul/soft rock, wasn't expecting that on a blur album I can tell you...

2. Anderson - Patterns

Fave Tracks:
Vincent
History
Cecilia's Sister

http://andersonsongs.com/

Danny Anderson's debut solo album is like chicken soup for the soul and it's impossible to hide from it's heartfelt charm. The care and craft that has gone into the album oozes out of every track and it's clear for anyone to hear from first listen, a joy from start to finish.

1. No Monster Club - People Are Weird

Fave Tracks:

This is the album that's stuck with me all year more than any other. "I've Retired" is hands down my favourite song of the year and my last.fm page is all the proof you need (170 plays apparently at time of typing!) but thankfully the rest of the album is of a similar quality. It's just a confident, fun collection of giddy melodies, fuzzy lo-fi sounds and is the most individual or idiosyncratic sounding album I've heard all year (also gets bonus points for having a lyric about winning the World Cup in Qatar)

I've embedded this handy Spotify playlist of all my favourite tracks (also a Soundcloud playlist for fave tunes not on Spotify!)
